Tips & tricks for a smart, small bathroom design

Not only in many old houses, but in new ones too, the bathroom is one of the smallest rooms in the house. Yet, we spend quite a lot of time in our bathrooms, and we no longer believe that a touch of luxury is unnecessary. Fortunately, with these handy tips, you can even turn a mini bathroom into a cosy, practical space!

A small bathroom, lots of opportunity

It is a real challenge to turn a small bathroom into a fantastic place to relax, but certainly not impossible. With optical illusions, the correct colours and a smart layout you are guaranteed to get the job done.

The magic of optical illusions

Of course, even in a small bathroom a mirror above the sink is essential. Do not be tempted by a small one, but choose instead for an extra large mirror to make the space seem as large as possible. In addition, it is important to avoid visual barriers such as hanging lamps.

Light colours for an airy atmosphere

Is there room in your bathroom for an extra window or a skylight? Then don’t hesitate and go for it! The better the light, the more spacious your bathroom will seem. Particularly if you limit your colour palette for walls and furnishing to white and pastel shades, and opt for plain, high gloss furniture.

Smart design for a small bathroom

Are you unable to choose between a bath and a shower? Just decide... Or install a bath-shower combination. In a small bathroom it is all about working as much as possible with the height. Vertical designer radiators are an excellent choice – unless of course you choose underfloor heating to save even more space – and bathroom furnishings also look their best when they have a sharp, vertical design.
