Low temperature radiators: the benefits, in no uncertain terms

Low temperature radiators: the benefits, in no uncertain terms

Thanks to modern-day insulation standards, in most cases we no longer need costly energy guzzlers to heat our homes as efficiently as possible. Although it is obviously also true to say that current energy prices are a major driving force for the rising demand for high efficiency heating systems. Are you looking for an eco-friendly and affordable way to heat your home? In that case, you will soon find yourself taking a closer look at low temperature heating. Find out if this could be just the thing for you!

How low temperature heating works

In traditional heating systems, the water supplied has a temperature of 70 to 80 °C. For low temperature heating, the supply temperature of the central heating water is much lower, somewhere between 30 and 55 °C. Please note: low temperature heating is worthwhile only if your home meets current insulation standards.

Tip: combine low temperature heating with a high-efficiency boiler or a heat pump for maximum savings.

Heating your home with low temperature radiators

If you have set your sights on low temperature heating, but either will not or are unable to have underfloor heating fitted, there are always low temperature radiators. These are radiators with an extra-large surface area (usually referred to as ‘LT radiators’ or as ‘oversized radiators’), which enables them to give off sufficient heat. Will a radiator of this size knock the harmony of your home interior out of balance? No, quite the contrary, even if you are going for a designer radiator! Not quite won over yet? Here is a quick recap of the three main benefits of low temperature radiators:

1. LTH radiators are efficient

LTH radiators use 30 percent less energy than regular radiators.

2. A pleasant temperature at all times

LTH radiators ensure even heat distribution, which means drafts and cold corners barely stand a chance.

3. A healthier indoor climate

Low temperature heating produces less powerful air flows in your home, which consequently makes for a healthier indoor climate, with fewer suspended dust particles in the air. As LTH radiators do not heat up anywhere near as much as regular radiators, they also substantially reduce the risk of scorch marks (which irritate the airways).
